That was insanely humerous that it triggered a series of trajectories and transcending senses throughout my body and mind, causing myself to display an uncontrollable expression of laughter. Hahahaha.

Movies Outing

Finally a rest after catching 3 movies for 3 consecutive days this week! Just a quick word on the movies.

Astro Boy

It is cute and funny although it is too different from the original story. Besides using the character designs, it hardly follows the original comic. The plot is pretty creative though it feels like they are injecting too much political stuff for a film that is supposed to be meant for kids. The majority of the audience, who are kids, won't understand anyway.

The ending was lame. They could just put the cellphone which Astro powered, you know. And what's up with the abrupt alien invasion? Lame! However, I enjoyed the movie as a whole; I laughed a lot and the kids watching with us at the cinema were cute too.
"Daddy, why are they laughing?"
"Daddy, you will always love me no matter what right?"
-quoted from a kid

Watch it if you like cartoons (which means it's not suitable for people like XY).

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Fantasitc Fantastic Mr. Fox!

When I was a kid, I only read Bookworm Short Stories and Roald Dahl's. I read Fantastic Mr. Fox, though I can't remember the details of the story. As I watched the movie, I was thinking if I really understood what I read back in Primary school.

The movie gives me a nostalgic feeling. I read from newspaper that the animation technique used is "stop motion". It fits the film nicely, I feel. It's like watching an animated picture book. If you read Roald Dahl's books, there are always illustrations every few pages. Watching the movie made me feel like the illustrations are coming alive. Really cool. If you were a Roald Dahl fan, it's definitely worth watching. It's also a pretty enjoyable experience for non-fans who have never read the book.

2012

Sorry, I really hate the film. I think it sucks. It's so ridiculous and stupid. The plot is so far-fetched and absurd and flawed.
Life is very short, there's no time for fussing.

Watch if you enjoy CG or you just feel like wasting around 2.5 hours of your life.

The second Korean movie I've watched in my life.
The first one was My Sassy Girl~

Nothing much to review about, but this is damn funny! The storyline was great, the action was exciting and hilarious at the same time. Totally laughed out loud.

It's a typical secret agent/undercover comedy, but I really enjoyed it and had a good laugh.

You can still catch the movie at Cathay~

Last One Standing #22

Thursday was the last episode of Last One Standing a.k.a psycho show!

The ending was really predictable. I knew that Tang Li Yan was acting! When Chen Xi said that he's studying and is well-behaved, I suspected that he was acting and it turns out to be true. Oh man he's really damn freaky!

Currently, I'm re-watching the series because I didn't manage to catch every episode when he was airing.

After watching this series, I really feel that Roger Kwok is a very talented actor. He can act in many different roles, from the good guy to the bad guy and from an intellectually disabled to a psychopath. His acting is really convincing.

An actor has no feelings. He isn't himself anymore when he's on stage. No matter how many things happen in the real life, he has to bear it all and bury his feelings because the show must go on.

That's one of the message from the show. I think it's really true, but that makes all great actors really scary!

I don't have much experience in acting, but I think it's pretty fun to act in a comedy! For my film module, we had a project. For our presentation, we played a skit. It was the really lame kind of humour but the whole class laughed. I really enjoyed myself when I acted my role of the Cat King and the cardboard Prince. I was really into it and I tried very hard not to laugh.
It was the coolest part of the module anyway and my groupmates rock.

Because I can't act well, I can only act in a comedy...since people can laugh at my fake acting...haha.

Anyway, Last One Standing is nice and you can watch it online if you didn't get to watch it on cable TV!

Reader's Digest December 2009 - Error!

When I got my copy, I flipped to the last few pages for this month's puzzle.

To my delight, it's KenKen! Though the two puzzles printed are really simple.
The 4X4 one is the introductory puzzle and totally no kick. Usually I do 9X9 puzzles and I can't be bothered with 6X6s, but the one printed prove to be a "challenge".

After filling in 3 cells, I noticed that the puzzle was illogical. I figured that the operations could be wrong, so I started doing it by considering all possible operations. Actually I did a 9X9 No Operations KenKen puzzle once. That took me really long. Luckily, this is only 6X6, the possibility isn't that huge.

It turns out that two of the division signs were printed as plus.
If you buy Reader's Digest and would like to try the "harder" puzzle, please correct the puzzle.
1. first row first column: 3+ to 3/
2. fifth row first column: 2+ to 2/

That's all!

La Chèvre

I finally watched the film this afternoon! La Chèvre is a 1981 French comedy film. During my second last French 3 lecture, my lecturer showed us the first 30 minutes of this film. It was so hilarious that I searched for it immediately when I got home. After weeks, I've finally obtained a copy with English subtitles.

The story is about the daughter of a company's CEO going for holiday and she's such an unlucky person that she cannot take a step without creating any trouble. Due to her bad luck, she was kidnapped and was missing for days. Her dad hired a detective to look for her but there was no news. Then, the company's psychologist came up with a crazy idea: get the unluckiest person to search for the unlucky daughter! His theory is that, these two people are so unlucky that they will encounter bad luck at the same places and in the end they'll find each other.

Because of this crazy plan, and the desperate CEO, the detective was sent to work with the most unlucky guy he has ever seen.

The story may get a little predictable, but the luck of the man will really throw you off the chair. The dialogues between the detective and the man were funny too!

It is really really very funny! I enjoyed it a lot even though it's a really old film and I don't know the actors. It's one of the funniest film I've watched this year, really!

If you want to borrow from me, no problem~

Classical Guitar

  • Nov. 25th, 2009 at 9:21 AM
hope
My classical guitar is always inside the spongy guitar bag. As Feli hasn't been coming to my house to play guitar and I'm learning electric guitar, I don't touch the classical one at all. Despite how it's kept in the canvas bag, it is extremely dusty. Yesterday suddenly, I just felt like playing it.

It was really light, compared to my electric guitar which I suppose is already considered the lighter ones of its species. One Friday, I brought my e. guitar to school as I was going for lesson straight from school. XY offered to help me carry it because she wants to look cool. It was only less than a minute and she said something like, 原来act cool要付出很大的代价. Haha. Anyway, back to my classical guitar.

I strummed a chord. The sound was so full and warm~ It's really different from my electric guitar. If I don't bring my electric guitar to lessons, I would have forgotten how it sounds because I don't plug it into the amplifier at home. The connecting cord is likely to be broken or probably has extremely bad contact. I have yet to get a replacement, so my electric guitar is soft and unamplified at home. Sounds a little like a banjo.

It feels awkward to pick up the classical guitar again. The body is fat. The fretboard is wide. I thought I won't be able to play well after getting used to my slim e.guitar, but I surprised myself. I could play it properly and it actually sounds better than my unamplified e.guitar! Besides, the strings don't feel like they're cutting my fingers.

I feel that my skills has improved even though it's not very significant. My teacher often asks if I practised. I swear I practise it more often than my piano or any other musical instrument. I spend more time on it than on schoolwork. Okay, maybe not a good comparison. I spend around as much as time I spend on dramas.

I'm glad I have the classical guitar foundation. It gives me better fingerwork. I think the worst part of my guitar learning journey was under the show-off teacher who likes to say that piano is easy though I doubt that he can play it...but I won't say that I didn't learn anything from him. My current teacher is good, he shows-off too but with the idea of guiding the student.

This is a very old undated picture of my guitar. Deducing from visible evidences, it's taken during the period between March 2004 to June 2005.

I shall breakdown my analysis. Firstly, it's obvious that the bed is different from my current bed and my floor was carpeted, which means that it's taken before the renovation in November/December 2005.
On the top left corner, there's a silver whistle, which I suppose was hanging on the bars of the bed. That's the Secondary 3 OAC whistle.
Upon a closer look, the tunning peg for the 3rd string is missing. One day, I left my guitar just like how it was in this picture. Somehow, someone made it fall and a tunning peg broke. I can't remember when it happened, but as I only started learning guitar at the start of 2004, I believe the tuning peg wasn't broken that soon. Also, I changed the strings and replaced all the guitar pegs in June 2005 before my Grade 3 exams.
Therefore, I conclude that the picture has to be taken between March 2004 - June 2005.

Anyway, the pick is misleading. I don't use pick until I started on electric last year. I just bought it for fun. As for why it's pink...I don't know. I lost it recently.

I'm reminded of how Evadne tried to guess the period when which neoprint was taken by looking at Yuhan's hair. LOL.

Even if you have never tried this snack, you definitely would have seen it in supermarkets.

Did you eat it right away after you open the lid?

Don't you find the packaging very much like cup noodles...?

This is in fact instant cup fries!

Add hot water to it, in 1 minute (it cooks faster than instant cup noodles), you'll get piping hot fries!

I'm serious.

Remember to drain the water before you indulge in your instant fries~

MLB is out with their 3rd album, Set Meal for Two! Although I was a supporter of MLB during the Superband days, I didn't even buy their 2nd album, Triangle.
I guess the novelty wore off and I wasn't that attracted to the band.

However, after watching the videos, I realize that I still pretty much like MLB. Personally, I don't feel much of a distance from them. They are also Singaporeans and they are just very much like us except that they have passion and talent in music. I like the fact that they speak English like average Singaporeans without any fake accents or something.

Happy Birthday!

It's Felicia's and XY's birthday today!

Even if everyone's busy, they'll always have each other to celebrate each other's birthday! But Kyunin, being such nice friends, went down to TPY Swensens to give them a surprise party, although it's initiated by one of the birthday girls, XY. The turnout was surprising. Everyone came. Even Evadne who has to travel all the way from Pulau NTU and back since she's staying in hall for the entire exam period. XY and Feli, you all are so loved! Hahaha.

Thanks to XY, everyone had a mini gathering! Really, if she didn't come up with the plan, everyone would assume that everyone's busy or doesn't have the mood to celebrate their birthdays. XY has the courage to try! Well done~ *Mizz Leong's gesture* Haha, so don't be sad or emo on your birthday~ You are Lean, Intelligent and Unique! HAHAHA.

It's the weekends again, though it doesn't feel like one. Xin has a camp, so she's not at home. =( Watching GuessX3 tonight without the #1 fan of the show.

Left three papers to tackle. The first one is my first non-language arts paper. Haven't finish the readings nor watched some of the films...but it's kinda sian. I think I'll just read some synopsis, the forum and rely on my lousy creativity. The next paper is very concept-based, and that's not very good... And my last paper on Thursday is concept and calculation based. The best part is that accuracy isn't very important and we can do a lot of approximation if we're lazy. I'm a little more confident for it as I believe I can do half of the paper.

Can't wait for everything to be over!

I'm kinda high now cuz I've earn 134k np today. HAHAHA.
It's mine, MINE, MINE!

Happy birthday to Nintendo DS too!

The First Lecture

I went for my first programming lecture of the semester...today. I've never been to that module's lecture because it's webcasted, though watching the webcast or not is another thing. But I'm pretty glad I went. Got one big question mark cleared. Anyway, it was an extra help session, so he basically went through some past year questions and answered our questions if we have any.

Tomorrow's the paper. Can't wait for everything to be over! 6 more days to my last paper! Congratulations to myself! Even though I feel that I'm ill-prepared, the approaching of the real holiday makes me very high!

There are tons of things to do after exams!
1. Ask people out for movies~ (Gokusen!)
2. Yoga karaoke~
3. Watch old HK dramas~
4. LO~

But this holiday is too short.
Going overseas on the 11th and will only be back on the 22nd, which means that I have less time to do the stuff mentioned above! =/
But I really prefer going overseas~

The Four

  • Nov. 19th, 2009 at 12:51 PM
charmander
...is the English name of the TVB series 少年四大名捕.

The characters in the show has funny name. The Four has got funny nicknames that are used very much like their name. Raymond is acting as Heartless(无情), Sammul as Chaser(追命), Kenneth Ma as Iron-fist(铁手) and Ron as Cold-Blooded(冷血).
=_____=
Some of the girls have funny names too. Chaser's ex-girlfriend is called Xiao Tou. I've no idea what's the character used but it sounds like 小偷. Chaser's potential love interest, also Iron-fist sister, is called 小刀. I don't see any potential love triangle in the show, since the Four have their individual potential love interest. It's damn obvious.

So far, it is a little like detective show, though not extremely interesting. The cases are relatively short and some are rather predictable. The main characters are not very likeable. In fact, their nicknames are the exact reflection of their characters. Heartless is totally heartless, Cold-blooded is really cold-blooded, though Chaser should be named Runner. Haha.

Although it's not as exciting as the previous shows I watched, I still watch with anticipation every weekday night. It's getting interesting especially when the Heartless and Iron-Fist relationship is improving, yet it's been revealed to the audience that their families are actually enemies of one another. Typical of classical dramas. I bet there's going to be more secrets revealed regarding the past of the characters.

By the way, Heartless is crippled from young and he's always on his super wheelchair. It's really super. Not only it's able to shoot all sorts of weapons, it reclines! Just what kind of wheelchair is that?!?!

Happy Birthday to Neopets!

  • Nov. 18th, 2009 at 11:29 AM
girl
HAHAHA.

Okay, it was last weekend, but they are still celebrating their 10th birthday on Neopets.
=______=

I remember that last year when I was preparing for my finals, I was half-busy playing Neopets because of the birthday celebration. I think last year, we got to send score 5 times per game per day for a week. This year, since it's their 10th year, we get to send score 10 times per game....and that means that everyone can earn at least 3X more of what they usually earn a day! Crapp it means there's going to be inflation and my dubloons and codestones will be more expensive. Thus, I have to play. Haha.

Somehow, I can't grow out of Neopets. Some of the games are fun, though I hardly have time to play the fun but not NP-worthy games.

This month I set a goal to earn Sakhmet Solitaire's gold trophy. It's actually just the Solitaire you find in computers, but to earn the gold trophy you'll have to win two games in a row. It's time consuming and doesn't give you as much returns as the flash games.
My current score: "You have played 241 games, and you have won 11 times."
For every 100 games, I'm winning 4.5 of them... If only I can just win 2 games in a row! =/

Hahaha enough of my childishness.
But then, Facebook games aren't any better. My elder sis is playing the cafe world or something. And she's always saying, "Oh no! My food is burnt!"

Power of Live Performance

So yesterday after talking about Yoga's new album on my LJ, I spent about half a day Youtubing Yoga. I watched all his performance when he was still competing in One Million Star and some of the shows he went on while promoting his concert. I was surprised that he was only 19 when he participated in the competition and that he's so open about losing his virginity. Hahaha.

After all the videos, now that I listen to his album again, I can imagine his performance. His performing style is really distinctive. He always seem at ease and into it.

Live performance is really powerful, and that's why people go for concerts...which reminds me that, I didn't see Mayday at their concert this year. Although it's always high, I don't look forward to more L-O-V-E and I hope they can come up with new stuff instead of rehashing everything and fans can stop complaining that they didn't sing GongLang. But not going to the concert gives me something else to look forward to. The concert DVD! Since Final Home, I've been trying hard to keep myself awake when I watch the oncert DVD.

I can never imagine Mayday performing live to a new song before I actually see one. I guess my imagination isn't powerful enough to imagine 5 person in one go. Haha.

Looking forward to seeing Yoga's live performance if he comes to SG again!

感官/世界

As a new listener of Yoga Lin's music, pardon me if I say anything strange because my impression of him is formed solely from his 2nd album. Because I leave my radio unplugged for a very long time (if not it'll turn on by itself!), I haven't heard many "new" songs except for those of my favourite artists.

I bought his second album, just like how I bought Mayday's Time Machine when I was in Secondary school. I had no knowledge of the performer, just trusting the reviews and my gut feeling. It's not a bad way to expose yourself to more variety of music. Some reviews may not go inline with my personal views, but if not for reviews, I wouldn't have met Mayday nor Yoga Lin, and that would have made my life less exciting.

Firstly, I want to comment about the packaging of the Singapore edition. It appears to be a book sealed in a Ziploc bag, which unfortunately isn't exactly a Ziploc because it has two holes. The "book" isn't actually a book, but merely big squarish papers folded into halves, then stacked together and folded half again. There are only three of these papers and the first sheet opens up to be the lyrics "book" while the other are just emo-feeling pictures. Inbetween the papers is a thick cardboard which makes up most of the thickness and weight. Stucked in the middle is the CD. The packaging is simple and rather low budget, but I'm not complaining because I got it for $15 from CD-rama.
I prefer the Singapore's version album cover to that of TW's. In TW's version, he looks damn gay, even though I would say my impression of him from his looks isn't very man.

I like the "Ziploc" idea because it keeps the off-white "bookcover" from dirtying. If my film lecturer tries to infer something about the packaging, she'll probably say that the bag acts as a tool to seal up the senses and feelings and then they are only released when one purchases the album to listen to his music...or something...haha.

For days, I've been looping his album like crazy. It's a regret that I found out about him so late, but I'm glad that it's not too late.

I really like his songs and the way he sings. It feels like he really throws out his voice and pour out his heart when he sings. He has this very dreamy and somewhat emo voice. Yeah, I think he suits singing emotional songs such as 飘, 耳朵, 心酸 etc.
Putting all the emotional songs back to back is really something. It makes you too emo. If you just loop the four songs again and again, you'll probably sink into depression and never recover from it.

I enjoy the upbeat songs and I think he handles the different genre well and this shows that he's a versatile singer. His singing is infectious enough. It makes me want to go karaoke!

But somehow, he gives me an Eason Chen feel.

There are 11 songs in the album, including an almost 2-minutes long intro. The intro has very simple and short lyrics but I like it for its simplicity and I think it suits the album theme. This really changed my impression for album intros. One of my favourite male singers has this disgusting intro for his newest album...hahaha.

I think I'm going to get his first album. According to my friends, it's very very good. I will be satisfied if it's slightly below the standard of this album, happy if it's as good as the second, thrilled if it's better.

Highly recommend Yoga Lin's second album!

I didn't know that parrots eat chilli! And it seems that this particular parrot likes it a lot.

After doing some research, I believe that it's a Leadbeatter's Cockatoo a.k.a Major Michell's Cockatoo. I'm not very sure, but it seems like it's one of the few species with white and pinkish plumage. I think it really has beautiful feathers and it's cuter with the crest down.

Parrots can talk and they have very good sense of balance. Cool.

Apollo Justice has a parrot-inspired hairstyle.

LEGO Rock Band

My newest DS game! Unlike Guitar Hero, this band music-based game doesn't need a grip which you'll have to stick into your slot-2. Instead, you'll just play with your left, up, Y and X buttons.

It's really fun even though you don't physically feel that you're in a rock band. I generally find rhythm games fun especially when they have great music. The harder difficulties can be really challenging but fun. It's also cool that you get to play different parts of the 4-men band. You have to switch around during the song in order to keep your band members happy and thus score high. Basically, you get to choose to play any parts at any portion of the song except when there's a solo. I totally think that the guitar solo is super cool.

Although I still think it's funny to see LEGO figures performing up on the stage, it's a very fun game. But logically speaking, LEGOs can't play the guitar nor the bass with their vice-like hands. Sure they can hold the drumsticks and the microphone...but tell me how do they play chords with that kind of hands?

Evadne, you have to resist the temptation to try the game until after exams. It's addictive.

This is the trailer. It's French.

I'm supposed to study very hard today for my French essay, comprehension, grammar, oral and Japanese essay tomorrow. Okay good luck to myself and time to turn off the computer!
